A Study on Post-harvest Losses of Royal Delicious Apple in Different Marketing Channels at Seraj Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India

The present study was conducted in the year 2022-23, to analyse post-harvest losses occurred different marketing channels of “Royal delicious” variety apple. data were collected by using survey method, with help questionnaire interviewing respondents personally. A sample 80 apple growers (54 marginal, 17 small and 9 semi medium farmers) taken, existing (Channel I,II,III) identified. Channel I (Producer – Primary market retailer Consumer), II Wholesaler Secondary Consumer) III Pre-harvest contractor Consumer). Out total 145 functionaries a 20% i.e. 30 selected randomly. It revealed that, on an average 12.4% produce lost per quintal 12.4 kg/quintal, having highest 17.4% produce. In found 14.05% loss And had minimum just 5.75% economic terms, Rs. 744/quintal observed at price 60/kg. concluded that channel because more middlemen looking into channel, wholesaler level there loss. These can be minimized cold storage facilities, quick dispose from producer consumer.
